The Fool at the precipice⎻

blindfolded, ready to dive heart-first,

I greeted the unknown with an openness.

I sat steady . . . my soul open in benediction.

My hands skimmed over my exhausted wishes

that lay burnt, breathless, spent in a clear ashtray.

Yet, I dared to light another in the twin flames' glow.

The candle simmered slowly, dripping jewels of hope,

and smoke birthed from the wind fiddling with the fire.

Ignited . . . I lit a candle blindly for this new me to unfurl.
